Cancellation Policy

1. Overview

Both carriers and senders can cancel through the DakBox platform. Our cancellation rules are designed to protect both parties fairly and to maintain trust across the DakBox marketplace. This policy should be read together with our Refund Policy.

2. Carrier Cancellation (Trip / Booking)

When a carrier cancels a confirmed booking:

  • The sender receives a full platform fee refund.
  • The carrier's trust score is reduced.
  • More than 2 unjustified cancellations in 30 days results in a formal strike.
  • 3 strikes = permanent account suspension.
  • Carriers must provide a reason for cancellation. Medical emergencies, flight cancellations, and family emergencies are accepted without a strike.
  • "Changed my mind" cancellations without a valid reason always result in a strike.

3. Sender Cancellation (Booking)

When a sender cancels a confirmed booking:

More than 48 hours before departure

  • 50% platform fee refund.
  • No strike issued to the sender.

Within 48 hours of departure

  • No platform fee refund.
  • No strike to the sender (first occurrence).
  • Repeat within-48h cancellations (3 or more) result in an account review.

After item handover

  • Cancellation is not possible once the item is with the carrier.
  • The sender must contact DakBox support if the matter is urgent.

4. Shop Order Cancellation

Before payment confirmation

Cancel anytime, with no fee.

After payment, before the item is purchased in Japan

Full refund minus a processing fee (3% of the total).

After the item is purchased in Japan

  • Partial refund only — the actual Japan purchase cost and domestic shipping are non-refundable.
  • The DakBox service fee is fully refunded.

After the item is with the carrier (in transit)

  • No cancellation is possible.
  • Contact DakBox immediately if there is an emergency.

5. How to Cancel

Through the DakBox app or website:

  1. Go to your booking or order in the dashboard.
  2. Click "Cancel Booking" or "Cancel Order".
  3. Select a reason from the dropdown.
  4. Confirm the cancellation.

6. Trip Cancellation (Not Booking)

If a carrier cancels their entire trip posting:

  • All confirmed bookings on that trip are automatically cancelled.
  • All affected senders receive a full platform fee refund within 24 hours.
  • The carrier receives a strike for each booking that was confirmed and cancelled this way.
