Carrier Agreement

Version 1.0 · Last updated: June 27, 2026

This Carrier Agreement (“Agreement”) is a binding contract between you (the “Carrier”) and the operator of DakBox before you may post a trip on the platform. By checking the acceptance box on the Post Trip form, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to every section below. Please read it carefully — it defines what you are responsible for, particularly at customs.

1. What DakBox Is (and Is Not)

DakBox is a peer-to-peer marketplace platform that connects independent travelers with senders who wish to send items between Japan and Bangladesh. DakBox is not a courier company, freight forwarder, shipping line, or logistics provider, and operates on the same marketplace model as platforms such as Airbnb or Coconala.

DakBox does not handle, store, pack, inspect, transport, import, or export any item. Carriers act as independent individuals carrying items in their own personal baggage; they are not employees, agents, partners, or representatives of DakBox, and nothing in this Agreement creates an employment or agency relationship.

2. Carrier Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must complete DakBox identity verification — a valid passport or residence card plus your flight ticket — before you may post a trip.
  • You must hold a valid, confirmed flight booking for the route you declare.
  • You must personally be the traveler on the declared flight. Posting on behalf of another traveler (“proxy posting”) is strictly prohibited.

3. Customs & Legal Compliance

This is the most important section of this Agreement. By posting a trip you acknowledge and accept that:

  • You are solely responsible for the customs declaration of all items you carry on behalf of senders, at both departure (Japan) and arrival (Bangladesh or Japan), in accordance with the laws of each jurisdiction.
  • You must declare items truthfully to customs authorities. DakBox explicitly prohibits the carrying or concealment of undeclared commercial quantities.
  • Personal baggage allowance rules apply to you. Carrying items for payment may exceed personal import allowances, and you accept full responsibility for any customs duties, taxes, fines, penalties, or confiscation that may result.
  • DakBox accepts no liability whatsoever for customs seizures, duties, taxes, fines, delays, or legal consequences arising from your customs-compliance decisions.
  • You must not carry any prohibited item. See the Prohibited Items list, which forms part of this Agreement.

4. Item Responsibility

  • You are responsible for each item from the moment of physical handover by the sender until delivery to the intended recipient.
  • You must take a clear handover photo at pickup — this is required by the platform and serves as evidence of condition and receipt.
  • In the event of loss of or damage to an item, your liability is limited to the item’s declared value, up to a maximum of ¥200,000 per booking.
  • DakBox may, at its discretion, facilitate dispute resolution between you and a sender, but DakBox is not itself liable for item loss or damage.
  • You should hold appropriate personal insurance if you carry high-value items.

5. Payment & Fees

  • DakBox collects 15% of the carrier fee as a platform service fee, charged online at booking.
  • The remaining 85% is paid directly by the sender to you by an agreed method (cash, bank transfer, PayPay, bKash, etc.). DakBox is not a party to, and is not involved in, this direct payment.
  • You must not demand or accept payment of the carrier fee before the item has been delivered to the recipient.

6. Prohibited Conduct

  • No carrying of weapons, controlled substances, illegal items, or any goods restricted under Japanese export law or Bangladeshi import law.
  • No discrimination against senders on the basis of religion, ethnicity, nationality, or any protected characteristic.
  • No cancellation after accepting a booking without a genuine reason (the strikes policy below applies).
  • No misrepresentation of your trip details, route, capacity, or verification status.

7. Strikes & Account Suspension

DakBox operates a three-strikes policy. A strike may be issued for:

  • unjustified cancellations;
  • failure to deliver an accepted item;
  • false claims regarding an item; or
  • customs violations reported to DakBox.

Three strikes result in permanent suspension of your account.

8. Governing Law

  • This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
  • Disputes will first be addressed through DakBox’s internal dispute-resolution process, and thereafter, if necessary, before the competent courts of Japan.
  • The Japanese-language version of this Agreement is authoritative in the event of any conflict with a translation.
